reminder: ssh-tunnels

Fiddeling around with ssh-tunnels I want to keep myself reminded, on how to set up a tunnel to a remote server via ssh, forwarding port 80 to my port 4711:

ssh -L 4711:127.0.0.1:80 root@myserver.com

Then open your webbrowser and point it to 127.0.0.1:4711 and voila, you are on the internal webserver.. ;)

last.fm bought for 280 billion Dollar by CBS

whew, as they say in their blog, the fast growing audio-community last.fm was just bought by CBS. They seem to be on a shopping tour, having just announced major agreements with social networking sites and providers: looks as if the fat boys are going into new distribution channels - we are going to see some more announcements like that in the near future I think....

Adsense for video

Scanscout claims to have a technology to scan online videos and analyze their content. They will then match the content against their advertisers database and deliver in-movie textlinks. It should be a quite efficient way to place ads in UGC environments where "classical" advertisers still have concerns to show up...I wonder if the performance of their system could be able to handle a site like youtube - well, they won't ever get on youtube though google will buy them... ;)

Ich finde ja zeec.de sehr schön, weil die ein cleanes und intelligentes Interface haben - aber die habens natürlich schwer gegen die anderen Schwergewichter aus Köln, die sevenloads - dass mich mein Tippfehler in der Adressleiste http://www.svenload.de/ mal wieder zu zeec.de geführt hat, freut mich hingegen - die scheinen inzwischen mi allen Mitteln zu kämpfen... ;)

I ike this video site from style.com - continous playing (playlists) and regular ad insertions make it quite a real "couch potatoe" experience - though I think the quality of the videos could be better. But if you are in fashion, this is definitely your channel.

Mutige Agentur - bloeder Kunde Noiseblocker

Die Bekannten da drüben von kakoii haben ein Problem mit einem Kunden: 1000 Entwürfe für den Kunden Noiseblocker und dann wird nix abgenommen mit der Begründung, die Arbeit sei nicht professionell - was nur noch fehlt ist, dass Noiseblocker die Entwürfe, vielleicht in Details abgeändert, einfach benutzt: Zu oft habe ich das in unserer Agentur selber erlebt. Darum finde ich es mutig, dass kakoii das jetzt mal öffentlich macht: Lieber Stefan, poste doch bitte noch die ganzen anderen Packungs-Entwürfe: wenn wir die dann bald irgendwo sehen sollten wissen wir wenigstens woher die stammen...

Blackberry Stuff

So just got my Blackberry 8800 enterprise and got everything to work. Email Syncing from my Pop3 is easy - you will have to set up an blackberry internet mail account and enter your private account data there. For T-Mobile in germany this is e.g. here. Of course iSync won't work out of the box (mac osx) but there's a free piece of software from blackberry, which syncs everything like a charme. Findeable here (important: RESTART YOUR MACHINE AFTER INSTALLATION ;) ). What is really blowing me away is google maps with GPS support for the blackberry - this is really unbelievable. But first you will have to change your TCP IP settiings in options -> more options -> TCP - the things you have to put in there, you'll find here . Btw: these settings are cruical, in order to get all your applications with internet connections set up. though the device only has a GPRS connection, the data comes in very fast. All in all, I'm just missing a camera - but the 8800 is really cool.
